We are all used to see dogs as adorable sweet creatures, whom were created only to amuse us and to be cuddled. But the truth is that there are so many different jobs dogs perform all over the world and are actually good at it. They really make a difference by doing so in so many people’s lives. We can not be grateful enough to have them side by side helping when it is needed.

#1  Service Dog

I am sure we all have heard the term service dog. Are dogs with special training that help people with special needs, and make their life easier. There are trained for a certain kind of assistance such as mobility assistance, psychiatric service, autism dog, hearing dog etc.

#2 Therapy Dog

Certain dog breeds have a tendency to be more obedient than others, even though any kind of breed can become a certified therapy dog. They job consists in calming individuals that are experiencing any kind of stressful situation. They calm and comfort them like true professionals.

#3 Search & Rescue Dogs

This dogs are trained to detect the scent of a missing person, regardless of the weather conditions by smelling particles of human scent. They can even track it underwater.




#4 Herding Dogs

Border Collies, Kelpies and Australian Cattle are the most common breeds to be used as herding dogs. They help farmers keep their herd together and lead them towards the wanted direction.

#5 Hunting Dogs

Many types of dog breeds serve as a hunting dog. Due to their sensitive sniff  they help the hunter to track down the prey after  he has killed it. This is more common when hunting  poultry since they fall down very quickly after are shoot and the ground is full with long grass and wild bushes.

#6  Guarding Dogs

Dogs are natural guarders. One of the many reasons people have dogs is to guard the house from any possible threat that might come from the outside. When they detect danger they start to bard loudly.

#7 Lifeguard Dogs

Alongside with the Baywatch there are water rescue dogs also, whom practically perform the same job.  They swim in the water when they spot a human showing signs of drowning. They grab them with their mouth and bring them back to shore.

#8  Detection Dogs

This one’s are trained to detect bombs, bedbugs etc. When they detect that in certain area there is something we should check, they stay still and won’t move from their spot until experts find it.

#9 Police Dogs

Breeds used as police dogs are a few but most common to see doing the job are Labs, Malinois, German Shepherd etc. Many Police Departments have included dogs on the task to enforce public order, search, rescue and so on.

#10 War Dogs

During wars dogs were used to exchange messages, guard perimeters, detection, attack work. Although they may have not officially bean ‘enlisted’ they show up every day alongside with the soldier, doing their duty.
