It seems strange reading that the dog owners avoid going to a dog park, when those are supposed to be their favorite areas to walk and play with their fury balls.
The ones that opposite going to dog parks the most are dog trainers and here are five reasons why they think so.
#1 No matter how well you think your dog is trained, sometimes they are unpredictable and can even start a fight or even escape the park and get lost.
#2 The majority of dogs that frequent the dog parks lack on social skills. And a bigger problem is that some owners miss or do not understand the signs of an aggressive dog. We are talking about dogs that bully or mount other dogs.
#3 You can never be sure if the dogs at the park are healthy or vaccinated. A dog might be sick and even his owner has no knowledge about it. Medical conditions like cough, fleas, giardia etc are contagious and spread easily in parks.
#4 A dog that does not like to share toys could become a problem at a dog park. That attitude might lead into a fight with other dogs that come near ones food or toy.
#5 Leaving they collars on them while playing at the dog park can be dangerous because they can get caught on something or even stuck on another dogs collar. The number of dogs choked to death due to this is scary. On the other hand leaving removing the collar the dog might escape or get lost. That is why the best solution is to avoid them.
