5 Similar Behaviors of Wolfs and Dogs

Some people who have studied the behavior of wolfs and dogs have reached some conclusions that show great similarity between these two animals behavior.
1. Why dog hides his food (bread, bone, etc.)?

It is an instinctive behavior: wolves hunt large animals and therefore can not consume all their prey; They use to bury or hide the rest to preserve it for later.
Our dogs, even if  there is no  need to hide the food because they have in abundance, do the same thing instinctively!

2. Why before sleep, dogs make a 360 around them self.

It’s a behavior inherited from wolfs: Before lying in its place, the dog rotates about myself to seek a comfortable place to rest.

3. Why after defecating, dog scratches earth with his paws.

Dogs commonly scratch or scrape the ground with their hind paws after defecating. This is a normal behavior it’s your dog’s way of leaving a scent and visual message to other hounds that might pass by later. Wolves, the ancestors of domestic dogs, perform this behavior for the same reason.Dogs have scent glands under their paws . When the dog scrapes at the ground near his fresh poop pile, the scent from these glands is transferred to the ground. Before dogs became domesticated, it was useful to mark their territory.

4. Why do dogs lift the leg while urinating?

Male dogs, but also some famale one, raise the leg when performing their personal needs to mark territory and to leave their scent.
In urine, in fact, there is more information on the individual. By raising the leg, urine splatter up to the height of the nose. This way the dogs that pass nearby feel more easily the smell of the dog that has passed before them at that point.

5. Why little puppies lick each other faces ?
When the mother returned from hunting , puppies get near her to lick her mouth and lips , this way they can smell the food their mother ate before. Also this is a way to show affection to each other. Its a innate behavior.Dog puppies act the same way as the wolf puppies.
