This bar in Greece does the most amazing thing for stray dogs… Impressed!!!

Unfortunately Greece is going through a really bad Economic Crisis for several years in a row now. The American’s of the 19th Century would have called this period a PANIC to the economy. But no matter how bad the country is doing economically, there are still a lot of things to appreciate from this remarkable Mediterranean country. As I said the crisis has hit the whole country, so people have started abandoning their pets because they cannot afford to pay for their foods, vet bills, and other necessary treatments. Fortunately, there are places like the small island bar Hott Spott, in Mytilene, Lesbos that has opened the doors for stray dogs for almost a year now.

“When the bar closes each night, the dogs come and sleep here. We don’t have a problem. From July, every night there is a dog on the couch,” said a waiter at the bar, who wanted to remain anonymous.

“The locals have increased levels of solidarity towards environmental and humanistic issues. The new generation is more sensitive and well informed,” said Eustratios Papanis. In the 3rd of December he shared a picture of the coffee shop at night, and instantly it went viral.

This is how the bar/cafe looks every night after all the customers have left. The dogs wait outside, and as soon as they see the bar empty, they invite themselves in, grab a comfortable spot at the couches, and have a really sweet treatment.

What the owner of this bar is doing is beyond any expectations. I think we need more people like this guy in the world. He is truly making a change in the world. He has changed the lives of these stray dogs, and the way we can thank him is to share this post as much as we can. And do not forget to visit Hott Spott if you are in Lesbos in vacation OK?
