IF you ever find a lost dog follow these 7 steps

ATTENTION: Never approach a lost dog like you approach to your own canine. Be careful, and make sure to be very gentle when approaching to a lost dog. They might feel terrified and you might look like a threat to them. If you don’t have an experience whatsoever with strange dogs, then the best thing to do is to contact an animal shelter. They can take further actions to help the lost dog. If you have experience then make sure to follow these 8 steps if you ever find a puppy wandering around the streets.
1- Approach carefully

Be kind and gentle, and let them know that you want to help.

2- Safety first

Most dog bites come from insecurity. If dogs don’t know someone, they feel threatened, so they try to defend themselves by attacking (biting.) Let the dog make the first step in approaching. If he or she feels safe, they will let you pet them.

3- Make a call

Call an animal shelter, and let them know about your latest find. If you don’t have the time to invest with a lost dog, then you can take the dog straight to the closest animal shelter. They will take the situation under control from there.

4- Identity

Try to identify your newest friend. Dogs usually have an ID tag in their necklace. If they don’t have an ID tag, then take the puppy to a Vet clinic to scan the dog for a microchip.

5- Consider a Vet visit

This would be a huge help for the poor lost creature. The Vet will be able to find out for how long the dog has been lost, and if in the meantime, the puppy has suffered any trauma.

6- Spread the word

Use social media to spread the news about the lost puppy. There is a chance that someone might know someone that knows someone who’s puppy is missing.

7- Decide what to do with the puppy

If nothing of the steps above didn’t have positive outcomes, then it is up to you to decide what to do with the puppy. You can either adopt the puppy, or take it to an animal shelter.
