Dog’s have proved for so long that they are a human’s best friend, and that is undeniable. But sometimes they also cross that border. Not only are they our best friends, but at special times they became our guardians. When I say special times I mean for times when a human is disable to deal with the everyday routine. I am talking a about service dog. For all of you who don’t know already, a service dog is a dog who is specially trained to help people with disabilities. The service dog we are going to talk today is called Presley, and she lives in Louisiana with her family including her brother who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Presley, for the last four years, has always been with her brother Steph who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive muscle degeneration.
The parents of Steph say that the five-year old Golden Doodle goes to middle school with Steph every day. She is there to help the 7th grader with the tasks around the school.
For the last four-years Presley has been with the boy in order to help him with the everyday routine. She helps him to keep the balance. At times when the boy falls, she helps him to get up. And when he drops something, Presley is always there for him.
Steph is truly grateful for having her. To him she is much more than just a service dog. Presley is his best friend, and he would never imagine life without her.
“She can pick up anything off the floor that he needs or may have dropped, go get help if Seph were to fall and not be able to get up, open doors/drawers/cabinets and close them on command,” Seph’s mom Lori Watkins-Ware told Bored Panda.
School has recognized Presley’s devotion, so they have decided to honor her and put her photo to the School’s Yearbook next to Steph’s photo.
