We are used to here on going stories about puppies and kittens being saved by humans. How they have been rescued from abandoned households, the streets, lost in the woods and so on.
But what is not written and said as much as it should is when the saving happens all the way around. When this four legged sweeties save you with the unconditional love. How they are there comforting, when you are feeling down or how they jump up from joy when seeing you laughing.
This is the story of the woman who was able to redeem her self only with the pure love that rescue animals gave her daily.
She now is a well known writer. But her past is foggy. Her dad struggled with addiction and all that frustration was reflected on his daughter too. Despite that she suffered with her own devils that became even a threat to her well being.
For several years she suffered from bulimia which is a life threatening eating disorder. Every day she was left feeling more broken and down than ever for not having the will power to stop the self distraction.
Years passed by and she still was struggling every day to overcome from that dark place. She even went to therapists, took medication, even spoke to strangers on the internet or hotlines and nothing. At the end of the day she would still find her self next to the toilet pouring out every meal she had eaten throw the day.
Thinks started to turn out for the better only when she stepped foot in an animal shelter. Different treatments and therapies never worked for her, but this place seemed to have the magic key that opened the door toward her recovery.
It was so unexpected to receive so much love and warmth from those sweet faces.Gradually the healing process had started to notice.
After feeling free for the first time after so many years of constant struggle, she transformed in a bright smiley girl every time she was around the pets helping in the shelter.
All it takes is time. That is all you need to heel and close the wounds. Every single day she would come to the shelter filling complete and happy while holding on her hands a tiny kitten or a cute puppy.
She even wrote a book about her struggles and how she found the light just by helping and being around rescue animals in the shelter. That kind of triumph deserve a celebration indeed.
