It is so beautiful to hear that a shelter is building rooms that look like a home only for dogs, so they can feel good, relaxed and more importantly loved due to the extra attention. This is so thoughtful.
The ugly truth is that the shelter reality is difficult. Sometimes they do not have space enough for all the dogs and are forced to improvise. Some of these dogs have to spend month in shelter and others even years before getting adopted. And sadly there even dogs that never get to feel how having a home is like.
Specifically for that reason, the shelter staff turned an office into a warm cozy room that gives you the feeling of being home. It may not look much when you see it, but for the dogs makes a huge difference. It helps them feel more connected with humans and how life in a human house would be and also gives them a break from all the crowd and the noise.
They have even a TV in the room and bright decorations.
Doing this is a big plus for the shelter as well because helps them determine a dogs personality. By observing his behavior in the special room they get a sense on how he will interact and behave in a human house when he gets adopted. Knowing this helps them make perfect matches based on adoptive parents needs.
