In this special hospital, pets are allowed to visit their seriously ill human’s…

A very special hospital exists in Ontario, Canada called Juravinski. What makes this hospital so special? Well, the way this hospital treats his seriously ill patients. The program has adopted a special program called Zachary’s Paws for Healing, launched by Donna Jenkins. This whole program intends to make the seriously ill patients feel a little better during their last days. As we all know, when a person sees its pet, instantly he feels better. That is basically what this program aims to do. The woman who started this program was inspired by the story of her 25-year old nephew, who passed away a little while ago. In the following 10 pictures you will see how patients have reacted to their pet’s visit, and at the very end you will see a video that talks about the program a little longer.

“While Zachary was in the hospital for many weeks and very sick after having a stem cell transplant,  he begged to see his dog, Chase,” Jenkins told Bored Panda.

“We sneaked Chase into ICU to see him and the effect it had on Zachary was remarkable.”

“When Zachary realized he was not going to survive his cancer, he made me promise to start the organization. We had our official first patient visit September 15, 2015.”

“We know that when patients get to see their pet, it can improve vital signs, improve depression and the feeling of isolation.”

“It opens communication back up and it is a reminder for a reason for the patient to get well and return home.”

As the hospital describes the visits are weekly. The pets get to spend up to 1 hour with their human, and they both have a lovely time.

Before entering the hospital, the pets are cleaned thoroughly, and during their visit they are not allowed to see other patients.

The change that they bring to their human’s mood is uncomparable. They make them feel better, and perform better if they are strong enough to deal with their health situation.

The video below will tell you a little more about the program, and the changes in the health situation of the patients.
