Two months ago the National Zoo in Washington D.C decided to expand their zoological family. They added many different kinds of animals, and among the different animals were fennec foxes. For all of you who don’t know fennec foxes, I am going to post pictures below and you will get to see what a fennec fox really is. As for now I can tell you that they are so adorable and cute, but not as healthy as we all wished them to be. I am talking about the two babies here because the parents are just fine.
I want you all to meet the cutest tiniest foxes ever. This one right here is little baby baby Teddy.
While this other one is Teddy’s brother, Hokees.
As you can see these foxes are very tiny. Fennec foxes are the smallest foxes, and at birth these adorable creatures weight only 1.4 ounces.
But because they are so tiny, they are also so very much delicate. The vets decided that Teddy and Hokees needed special care immediately.
The vets had to feed them multiple times per day otherwise they would be in danger. More specifically, they needed to eat every two hour in order to survive.
Sadly their mommy Daisy, did not want to help. Maybe she was scared or something.
On the other hand their papa Charlie was more than willing to help, but there was nothing he could do. He had no nutrients to offer to his babies.
So the Zoo staff went ahead and took care of these babies. They feed them a limited amount of milk, with bottles every two hours.
Little by little the foxes only kept getting stronger, and now they are more stable than when they were born. In a little while, after they are done with the special intense care, the fennec foxes will be free to go ahead and join their days with friends and family.
