Top Ten Stolen Dog Breeds In USA

Pets theft is increasing year after year. The American Kennel Club reported a 40 percent increase in 2011 and a 70 percent increased in 2012. “Pet flipping” is such a common problem nowadays in the USA. Dog  thieves steal dogs, and resell them again for a stack of dollars. If you see your dog breed in the list below, then you should take extra care for your little buddy! Protect them from any possible danger!
1- The Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkshire Terrier is the most stolen breed of dog in America, according to the American Kennel Club. They are a very-well known dog breed, therefore many people want to have them. Who want a Yorkshire Terrier are willing to pay a lot of money for it!


2- Pomeranian

In November, pet thieves stole four Pomeranian puppies from a pet store in Chubbuck, Idaho. The Chubbuck puppies were worth $1,400 combined. So you better take good care of your Pomeranian!

3- Maltese

Last November, in the same week during which the Pomeranian puppies were stolen in Idaho, a thief stole three Maltese puppies in Missouri in two incidents over two days.



4- Boston Terrier

They are small, full of energy, intelligent, and make a great company! Such good qualities for all dog lover, but sadly a perfect target for dognappers also!

5- French Bulldog

A couple of month ago, an alleged pet flipper stole 15 puppies and one adult dog in Miami. All of the dogs were French Bulldogs. The are an expensive dog breed.


6-“They’re probably the top dog to be stolen in cities now,” said Jayne Hayes of online lost-pet database Dog Lost. “It’s quite easy to pick them up and put them in your pocket.”

7- Labradoodle

Mostly pure breed dogs are on the top ten stolen list. However this mixed dog breed Labradoodle is highly valued by people, and of course dognappers too!


8- Pit-Bull

People love them, and looks like thieves value them also.

9- German Shepherd

Not easy to steal, but they are worth the risk for dog thieves because people are willing to pay top dollars for these beauties!


10- Labrador Retriever

Because in the end who doesn’t love a Labrador Retriever?
