10 Ways Your Behavior Is Breaking Your Dogs Heart

There are certain behaviors that we as humans do, that effect the emotional state of our dogs. We are talking about small things here. Sometimes we don’t realize how our acts are causing emotional pain to our precious fury ones.
Read the 10 possible mistakes we are making at taking care of a dog.

#1 When you use the phrase “Come” seeking for his attention, make sure to reward him with something after he comes. If you don’t you would be sending mixed signals to your dog and eventually he will not obey the next time you call him.

#2 Advocate positive reinforcement training to teach your dog that jumping around on peoples face is not the right way to greet them. Ah and when you have friends over, tell them to just ignore him until he is sitting quietly.

#3 Don’t give your dog a hard time by being mean to him every time he makes a mistake. That will only lead him to fear you. When you house train your pup keep him within your sight. This way you can make sure he goes in the right place to potty. Rewarding him every time he behaves good is another step forward that helps set your dog up for success.

#4 Do not let your dog to pull on his leash, ever. Also do not use retractable leash if you want your dog to walk as he should with one on. If he starts to pull you stop until the dog starts looking at you relaxed, or you could also try the trick to walk on the opposite direction. I can not say this enough! Be sure to reward your dog when he walks politely on a leash.

#5 Train your dog so that he can play and socialize all he wants only after he has had his potty time. Firsts things first right?

#6 Do not punish your dog by making him go to his kennel. There is no wonder that he does not want to be near it afterwards. The kennel should be his favorite place…do not ruin that for him.

#7 All a barking dog wants is ATTENTION…well do not give him that pleasure, it will only make him bark louder.

#8 Do not fall for that sweet look of his while you are eating at the table. There will be no food for him if he keeps up with that attitude. Instead feed him when he is seated in his ‘place’, this way he will learn that comes only when he behavior properly.

#9 Counter Surf is the prohibited place, where dogs should never ever go. Make sure to keep your kitchen clean from foods he can easily reach and close it when you are not home.

#10 Keep your dog happy…play with him, take him for long walks. If he does not get enough exercise during the day you might end up coming home from work and find a huge mess on the floor.
