Lionel Messi says he’s feeling ‘very good’ as he’s enjoying football again after a tough first season at PSG

LIONEL MESSI insists he is feeling ‘very good’ as he continues to return in top form for both club and country.

The legendary 35-year-old shocked the world in the summer of 2021 when he left Barcelona after 21 years at the Nou Camp to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite his incredible goal tally for the LaLiga side, he struggled to replicate those numbers for PSG in his first season in France.

Messi has managed just six goals with 17 assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances in a stunning season.

However, with the World Cup in Qatar just weeks away, the veteran seems to be in full swing at the right time.

He has already scored six goals and eight assists in just 11 games for PSG this season and continues to break records.

Messi’s goal against Lyon last week was his 672nd from free play, putting him ahead of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

He scored twice for Argentina against Honduras last night, including a terrific chip, to take his international tally to 88 in 163 caps.

And afterwards he admitted that he feels much more comfortable in the French capital this year.

Corresponding Fabrizio Romano, Messi said: “I feel good, I feel different than last year. I knew it would be like this.

“I’m more comfortable with the club, the dressing room, my teammates, the game.

“I’m feeling really good again, so I’m starting to enjoy it again.”

PSG are currently two points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and have won their two Champions League group games so far.

Messi is expected to return to action for Argentina in Wednesday’s friendly against Jamaica before the nation’s focus shifts to November’s World Cup.

The South American and his team meet Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland in Group C in Qatar.
