Dog Toilet Training (Right Way To Do It)

Training to use the toilet starts as soon as your puppy  comes home. Puppies urinate frequently and successfully adapting them to the house lies in forecasting their needs – they must be given an opportunity to relieve them self at least every two hours. You can understand when your puppy “needs to go” because he or she would start to walk around, will move circularly and  delve into the appropriate corner looking for a place. This is a suggestion to move your puppy outside.
#1- Commands

Despite the weather, Puppies should be walked out as they rise from sleep, or after having eaten or drunk anything. Once you’re outdoors, say a command like “Go now” so they will know that they will be ok to alleviate themselves. Cuddle when they leave, but  ignore if they don’t leave. And if you find a pond inside, do not tell your puppy until you catch him in the act; otherwise your animal will have no idea why they were punished.

#2- Paper Training

You can train your puppy to this aspect, but only if they are small breed or small puppy. Cuddle them with affection after the paper was used and ignore them  if not. Be prudent to not make a habit rewarding every time your puppy with food , this way you can risk to over feed him. Puppies go to the toilet about 12 times a day, and sometimes more! Thereafter, move newspapers  towards the door and then outside in the garden. Take a small piece of paper that spotted outside after puppy recognizes its unique scent and will reinforce it.

#3- Train your puppy to hold it.

An Alternative  method to train Puppies with toilet paper is training with a crate, where Puppies are taught wait, especially the time space before going out. The key is to give them an opportunity to release themselves at least every two hours, especially after eating, sleeping or playing.

#4- To understand the “accidents” inside the house

If your puppy  had an accident, do not worry. Always clean the floor to remove unpleasant odor from the spot; otherwise your puppy will continue to go to the toilet in the same place.

#5- Retraining an adult dog

When it comes to adult dogs, start by holding them in a specific space. Bring your dog outside on regular basis, and when he or she “goes off”, Offer a lot of cuddle and caress. Like the puppy, if any accident occurs inside the house, clean the area to prevent them to go back there.

#6- Turn it into a routine

Toilet training is an important part of the overall puppy training, and how is accomplished can have a large impact on your relationship with the puppy.

If you realize a strict routine, your puppy or adult dog will quickly learn to be clean at home, the first step of home training. But do not be complacent, or your dog training may fail. Start training your puppy will when you are sure that he or she can never do damage inside the house and they cab wait to get out.
