What’s Hidden Just Below The Ocean Surface In Cancun Is Hauntingly Beautiful

Below the ocean surface in Cancun you can find the first underwater museum. It was built in 2009 for those who are curious to go and be mesmerized by the art collections featured in it.

If other museums have other things that set them apart, this underwater museum has so much more to offer. Despite being unique in its own kind, also has art pieces from world wide known artists such as Da Vinci, Monet, Warhol etc.

These masterpieces can be found in Cancun, Isla Mujeres and also in Punta Nizuc, Mexico.

The museum is inaugurated under the name ‘MUSA’. It is considered to be one of the largest underwater attractions in the entire world.

The idea of this museum was born and developed by Jaime González Cano, the director of the National Marine Park; Roberto Díaz Abraham, the former president of the Cancun Nautical Association; and sculptor Jason de Caires Taylor.

This museum demonstrate perfectly how art can interact and coexist with environmental science.

Every sculpture that is part of MUSA collection it is built with specific materials that promote active coral life.

A large number of the sculptures that are part of it outline everyday activities.

Other artists such as Enrique Miralda, Karen Salinas, and Salvador Quiroz gave their contribution enriching the number of sculptures and art pieces the museum has to offer.

The museum reaches 4500 feet of the ocean floor. There are to options for people how are interested in visiting MUSA. One option is scuba diving and the other is using  glass-bottom boat to take  tour around the museum.
