Messi’s Debut for Inter Miami Delayed due to Administrative Procedures

As anticipated, Messi was expected to join Inter Miami today (July 1) after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expired on June 30. However, the American club has been unable to unveil the highly anticipated superstar.

Messi’s debut has been delayed as Inter Miami has yet to complete the necessary paperwork with the Major League Soccer (MLS) governing body. Chris Henderson, Inter Miami’s Sporting Director, admitted, “We are finalizing some paperwork with the MLS regarding Messi’s contract. Everything takes time to complete. We hope Messi can play his debut match for Inter Miami in mid-July. However, it depends on the licensing process.”

To reassure fans amidst the anticipation for Messi, MLS Commissioner Don Garber affirmed, “We continue to work to finalize the last procedures. We hope to make an announcement about Messi soon.”

Initially, Messi was expected to make his debut for Inter Miami in a match against Cruz Azul on July 21, but this plan may have to be postponed due to the incomplete paperwork. New head coach Tata Martino is also facing a similar situation and is unable to work at Inter Miami.
