Dame Daphne Sheldrick and her team of Keepers are taking extraordinary care of young elephants who have lost their mothers to poachers. These elephants require round-the-clock attention and love, as they are often traumatized and in shock from watching their mothers die. According to this report that originally aired on 60 Minutes, the price of elephant tusks have skyrocketed in recent years, leading to an increase in poaching.

Daphne Sheldrick has been running the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust — named after her late husband who was a leading crusader against poaching — for over 25 years.
