All About Poodle – Dog Breed Information

Poodles are extraordinary smart and active dogs. They are energetic breed that require daily activities and lots of attention. There are three main groups of Poodle breed: Standard, Miniature and Toy Poodle.

Pudelin from German word means splash in the water. This dog is an excellent swimmer. They bred to work with hunters, to regain birds from water. For that reason they are called duck dogs in France.

Poodle personality.

When it comes to training, this dog is a great student. We have to treat each pet considering their personalities. Train this noble breed continuously, for it helps them keep their energy under control. Walk him, and give him the chance to chase the tennis ball for 30 minutes a day. If you’ve ever met a poodle you have noticed their personality which is guided by impulses and emotions.

Protective to their family, kind, loyal, intelligent and highly trainable breed, Poodle can make your life easier.

When poodle is the only baby in the family, it takes a while for him to befriend other animals or children. If he is used to them there’s nothing to stop their beautiful and productive friendship.

Be careful how your kids treat your toy poodle, because they can accidentally hurt him.

 Grooming and color.

I recommend poodles for people who are allergic to pets, because they don’t shade. High maintenance breed they need regular grooming, trimming nails and clean teeth. Groom your poodle every three to six weeks, clean his teeth three times a week, and trim his nails twice a month. Daily brushing needed. Check their ears weekly for dirt, and hair. Poodles have many colors as: grey, white, black, crème, blue, silver, brown. Their hair is dense and curly.

Health.

Every dog owner likes the idea of healthy and non shedding dog, and poodles have both qualities. Overall they are healthy but here is a general knowledge about this breed disease.

Addison’s Disease: is caused by an insufficient production of adrenal hormones by the adrenal gland. It causes vomit, poor appetite, and lethargy.

Gastric Dilatation Volvulus: affects deep-chested dogs like Poodles, if they have large meal, eat rapidly.
