There is a really meaningful campaign going on right now at the Missouri Humane Society, where the Shelter Buddies Reading Program pairs kids age 6 to 15 with fearful dogs to prepare them for life in a forever home. First the kids have to go through a 10 hour training program just to prepare for the campaign. Once they fully understand what to do, and how to do it, the kids sit in front of a she dog’s kennel and read to them from a book. The following pictures will show you how this beautiful initiative unfolds.
