Her name is Lucca, and she is a 12 year-old German Shepherd who completed over 400 separate missions during six years of active service with the U.S. military. During her service Lucca would sniff out explosives. For the most part she was always successful on her job. They say that she protected the lives of thousands of allied troops during her career.
In this picture you see Lucca when she was injured and lost a leg. She was out sniffing for an explosive, and suddenly she stepped on it. Of course the explosive caused her to lose her left front leg. She also suffered a couple of injuries in her chest.
